2019-2020 School Year Grants Awarded

February 2020-

2 Peekskill City School District staff members were awarded School Year Grants for the 2019-2020 school year. The teachers applied through our new 2 Phase application process that was begun this year.

The Grants Awarded went to:
Ms. Heather Goggins, a Library and Media Specialist at Oakside Elementary School, which serves the 2nd and 3rd graders of the city of Peekskill. Ms. Goggins grant was for the purchase of a Classroom Kit of Ozobots, which contains 12 of the Evo bots for use with all the students at Oakside. These robots will help teach the children the basics of coding and programming.

Dr. Cathleen Hannigan, an English Teacher, and co-advisor of the Mercury Newspaper at Peekskill High School. Dr. Hannigans’ grant was for the purchase of iPads to be used in the Media Depart for her Analyzing Photography Class. The students will work in small groups to analyze, create, critique, and create their own projects using the software on the iPads.

We are very proud of these 2 staff members for their work in preparing these grants, and look forward to seeing the fruit of their, and their students, labor from these projects.
